Saturday, November 3 (figured I would start including the
date since I have had to go back and forth in time now and again)
Gecho sighting!
As the sun drops below the horizon from the triangular view
I have from my bed, the chill seeps into the cracks of the door frame. I hobble
around Preta who has been by my bedside most of the afternoon (she really isn’t
supposed to be inside the house but I won’t tell if you don’t) and close the
shutters.
A lethargic day of scooting from one chair to the next.
Parked myself between the cozy livingroom bamboo chairs with a long dead
pattern of flowers and birds to read and inhale the outdoors swarming around
me. Reading Aku Aku about the Easter Island
archeological dig by Thor Keyerdahl (what a great name!) Gobbled through darn
near a third of the book by the time lasagna was ready for lunch. Shoot, have
to take my time with books since I only have two more with me. I will have to
scrounge up more when I go to Sao
Paulo and find a used bookstore. Doubt there is
anything local.
Marquinhos showed up for his English class with his baseball
cap turned ‘round and grease smeared sheets of paper that I had given him to
take home and study. He has difficulty with the “th” and chuckles at his
mistakes, grins like crazy when he remembers the body parts we covered
yesterday. Cut out some pictures from a magazine I got from my friend Carol
Kepple’s mom, Margie. She insisted I have Forbes with Dilma Rousseff on the
cover (she is Brasilian’s president) for my trip. Thanks Margie! I have read it
cover to cover and am not making use of the ads.
I know there are some of you very panic-stricken about my
situation here. I can only say that I am ok, getting better every day and
taking one step at a time. Of course this isn’t
what I thought I signed-up for, perhaps I got in the wrong
line somewhere along the way, and yet, here I am! Have two physicians and a
nurse, physical therapist coming soon and who could ask for more than home
healthcare? And cute ones at that!
My Facebook and Hotmail are acting up so I cannot respond to
messages from either one of those sights. My gmail account is
paulafhill60@gmail and Skype is paula.f.hill for those whom might be
interested. Best time to Skype is after 9pm my time (three hours from Central
Time and five from PST.
Dario and Ana are going to sell more chickens to pay for
some seeds. Sort of glad I don’t have to hold the sack this time!
Had popcorn for dinner! My fav-
Love to all.
Tomorrow is another day!
